Round up of results from the last few tournaments of the year

It's been a busy end to the year with Nuneaton TKD members out in force at 4 major tournamentsIt's been a busy end to the year with Nuneaton TKD members out in force at 4 major tournaments

First on the mat was Ella Barnes I Dan who travelled down to St Albans on the 7th October to represent Nuneaton at the LTSI English Opens . Despite great performances in both patterns and sparring, Ella narrowly missed out on a medal against some tough opponents however has gained invaluable experience for future competitions.

The 4th November saw Bethany Frisby II Dan in action at the GTI British Open in Cheltenham. In a large division of experienced competitors, Bethany performed a technical Eui Am tul to secure bronze narrowly losing out to the GTI North London's Catherine Henryanto and Elite TKD's Abbi Evans-Keeling.

Ella and Bethany were then joined by Nuneaton Taekwon-Do instructor Miss Danielle Williams IV Dan at the UKTA UK Opens in Guildford on the 10th November. The UK Opens sees a high standard from all competitors with many in the blackbelt divisions having represented their country as part of the England, Scotland and Wales National teams. Despite this Bethany, Ella and Miss Williams all put out strong performances to come away with 3 gold medals. (Bethany Gold Patterns, Ella Gold Sparring and Miss Williams Gold Sparring).

The final event of the year was the BTF Birmingham Open . On the 18th November, Bethany, Ella and Nuneaton Taekwon-Do 1st Kup George Wright travelled to Nechells in Birmingham to compete in patterns, sparring and the power pad events. The standard was exceptionally high and the Nuneaton team put in great performances to come away each with a medal. Bethany with a silver in blackbelt patterns and Ella and George each securing a bronze for sparring.

George deserves a special mention having competed in is first tournament for over 5 years and putting in a great performance.

Thanks also goes to Mr Ian Frisby II Dan who alongside Miss Danielle Williams and Miss Natalie Williams III Dan helped to umpire in Birmingham

Bethany and Ella are now working hard towards next year's EITF European Championships in Rimini, Italy, which they hope to be selected for as part of the ITF England National Squad .
