Top‑20 club finish for Nuneaton Taekwon‑Do at the BTC Championships
Nuneaton Taekwon-Do students delivered a strong performance at the BTC Championships in Worcester , earning multiple medals and placing 16th out of 124 clubs in a field of around 500 competitors.
On Sunday 7th July, our students travelled to Worcester Arena for the BTC Championships, joining around 500 competitors from 124 clubs across the country. With a small but focused squad, the team produced an excellent set of results, securing a top‑20 finish on the overall club table in 16th place.
For several of our students, this event was an important step in their competitive journey, giving them the chance to test their skills on a large national stage and experience the atmosphere of a major BTC tournament. The performances across the day reflected not only technical ability, but also the perseverance, attitude and team spirit that are central to our training at Nuneaton TKD.
Medal results
Our medallists on the day were:
- Leah Basey – 🥉 Bronze in Adult 1st Dan Patterns and 🥉 Bronze in Adult Middleweight Sparring
- Adrian Clayton – 🥈 Silver in Adult Blue Belt Patterns and 🥈 Silver in Adult Heavyweight Sparring
- Lacey Shepherd – 🥇 Gold in Adult Green Belt Patterns, 🥇 Gold in Adult Middleweight Sparring, and 🥈 Silver in Adult Team Patterns
- Jock Burnside – 🥈 Silver in Heavyweight Sparring
These results are a fantastic reflection of the hard work our students have been putting in during classes, with strong performances in both technical Patterns and competitive Sparring divisions.
A special mention goes to Dexter, who stepped onto the mats in both Patterns and Sparring in two very tough categories. Although it wasn’t his day for a medal, he showed real perseverance and determination throughout his rounds, making clear progress that will serve him well at future events.
We would also like to recognise Lacey for stepping up at the last minute to join another club’s Team Patterns line‑up. With just a few hours of practice together, the team worked hard, adapted quickly, and went on to secure a silver medal – a great example of flexibility, teamwork and the wider Taekwon‑Do community spirit.
Finishing 16th out of 124 clubs is an excellent achievement for our squad and shows the strength and depth that continues to grow within Nuneaton Taekwon‑Do. Results like these build on our recent successes at events such as the GTI English and UKTA English Opens, where our students have consistently demonstrated high technical standards and strong competitive performances.
We are extremely proud of everyone who represented the club at the BTC Championships – competitors, coaches and supporters alike. We now look ahead to our next tournaments and gradings, where we’ll continue helping our students set goals, gain experience and become the best versions of themselves on and off the mats.
