IIC and ITS in Paphos, Cyprus
Nuneaton Taekwon-Do visit Cyprus for the International Instructor's Course
In the early hours of Wednesday, Nuneaton Taekwon-Do instructor Natalie Williams III Dan left an icy Luton airport on her way to Paphos, Cyprus for the International Instructors' Course and International Technical Seminar with Grandmaster Hwang Ho Yong IX Dan, ITF Senior-Vice President and Chairman of the ITF Technical & Education Committee.
Cyprus Taekwon-Do Federation hosted Grandmaster Hwang at the Aphrodite Hills Hotel, located a short 20 minute drive from the centre of Paphos. The IIC and ITS consisted of two days of intense training with Grandmaster Hwang and covered all 24 tul (patterns) of Taekwon-Do and fundamental sparring. With the opportunity to ask questions to some of the most senior individuals within the ITF, the weekend was a continuous learning opportunity for personal development as a Martial Artist and as a Taekwon-Do Instructor.
These courses attract Taekwon-Do practitioners from all over the world to unite and learn together. Representatives from the England, Wales, Czech Republic, Cyprus and Israel were all in attendance, coming to train together, learn from each other and form friendships. Miss Williams was joined by several British Taekwon-Do Federation instructors including our President Grandmaster Brown IX Dan.
After two days of committed training and reflection, it was finally time to relax and enjoy the beauty of the island of Cyprus. Excursions to the Tombs of the Kings, the Sanctuary of Aphrodite and the Troodos Mountains with Taekwon-Do friends rounded out the week and ensured a memorable trip.
These international seminars are open to all blackbelts of the ITF and are a chance to share a passion with people from all over the world: an opportunity that shouldn't be missed.
