Nuneaton TKD students compete at the UKTA English Open 2019
On Saturday 16 March Nuneaton TKD instructor Danielle Williams travelled down to the Guildford Spectrum with Bethany Frisby and Ella Barnes to compete in the UKTA English Open.
Bethany put out a great performance in II Dan Junior Female Patterns and finished with a Bronze after meeting the Gold medal winner Laura Jones of Total TKD in the semi-final. Bethany then went on to win Gold in the Junior Blackbelt -64 kg Sparring after facing both Libby Cashmore of Unite TKD and Ellis Keogh from Ireland before finishing the day with a Silver in the Blackbelt Special Technique event.
Ella Barnes followed on from her recent success at the BTF Junior & Veteran tournament to take Gold in the Junior Blackbelt -46kg category successfully outsparring Niamh McCullough (Brown's Taekwon-Do) and Thea Kirton (Crawley Down).
Sunday 17th March then saw our colour belts Lewis Johnson and George Wright take to the mat.
Lewis Johnson did exceptionally well in the 10 to 13 years Yellow Belt Patterns to finish with a Silver medal out of 19 competitors. He then went on to take Bronze in Sparring after being moved up into the Under 14 Green Belt +155cm category.
George Wright also put out a strong performance in the 14 to 17 years Red Belt Patterns category making it to the quarter finals. He then went on to take Bronze in 14 to 17 years Blue & Red Belt -63 kg Sparring.
A successful 2 days for Nuneaton who finished 22nd out of 84 schools despite only having 4 competitors.
