Congratulations to George who has been selected to represent ITF England

Congratulations to George Wright on his selection to represent ITF England at the 2024 EITF European Championships in Koper, Slovenia, 14th April to 22nd April.

George has been training since he was 6 years old and is now a 1st degree blackbelt in ITF Taekwon-Do. After success at this year's National Championships, George successfully made it through the ITF England selection process and has been selected to compete for our country at the EITF Taekwon-Do European Championships in Koper Slovenia between 15th and 21st April.

This is the third year in a row he's been selected to represent the ITF Engand National squad and he's hoping to build on the previous success he had at Junior level (European Silver in Junior Male Patterns & Bronze in Junior Male -69kg Sparring in 2022) and at his first adult Euros in last year where he took a bronze in the men's Team Pattern events. Each country can only send two people per event so to make it this far is an achievement in itself and George has been training hard to make sure he has his ticket to Koper.

George is a great all-round athlete and has been selected to compete in several disciplines: Adult Male 1st Dan Patterns, Adult Male -71kg Sparring, and has been selected as part of the 6-man team for Team events. Last year he narrowly missed out on the medals in the individual sparring event after facing Croatia, Greece and Cyprus in the group stages and he'll be looking to improve on this performance.

He's hard at work already training with Nuneaton Taekwon-Do at the Jubilee Sports Centre which made more difficult by balancing this with living in Bristol during the week whilst he's completing his degree apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering.
